Every holder of a Nuclear Site License is required to demonstrate, through an adequate and appropriate safety case, that all hazards associated with all licensable activities on the site are understood, controlled and ALARP. Specifically, the nuclear licensee shall make and implement adequate arrangements for the production, assessment and periodic review of safety cases consisting of documentation which justifies nuclear safety during the design, construction, manufacture, commissioning, operation and decommissioning phases of any facility, process or operation. These requirements also include a proportionate evaluation of the impact of any modifications proposed to existing activities.
Nuclear Technologies are fully conversant with the legal requirements and the supporting processes and methodologies used in the formulation of a modern standards nuclear safety case. Our staff are capable of compiling all elements that constitute a modern safety case and the supporting assessments, including:
- Hazard identification (HAZOP)
- Management of safety case production
- Risk assessment methodologies.
- Demonstration of ALARP
- Criticality assessment
- Radiological shielding assessment
- Independent nuclear safety assessment and peer review
- Engineering and design substantiation
Through our experience we are able to deliver clear communication of the complex safety arguments.
